For the Curious

The network has been created to provide a shared testing resource for the on-chain art community that meets in the Mathcastles community discord.
The name of the network came from an open discussion about names - Atelier won as an Atelier is an artists studio or workshop and that chimed best with the group.
The network number "1971" was the number of Terraform holders at the time the name was chosen.
The icon was created using dall-e for inclusion in the data provided to the chainlist database.
The addresses in the original coinbase in the genesis file were collected from participants in the #testnet channel on the Mathcastles discord on the understanding that they will act as willing faucets in the discord as we get started setting up other services such as faucet sites.
The mega holding is there for faucet creation and is held by the root node wallet for now.

For Users/Developers

To get some ATLR, simply head over to the #testnet channel on the Mathcastles discord and ask. The process at this time is that one of the members who has an allocation will send 20 ATLR to a wallet on request if it holds a terraform. Existing ATLR holders in the channel can send ATLR at their own discretion to wallets that don't have a terraform.

Once you have ATLR you need to connect to a node using your wallet software or your prefered developer method. If you want to add Atelier to your Metamask, select "Networks" from the "Settings" menu and add a new network with the following information:

New RPC URL: https://1971.network/atlr
Chain ID: 1971
Currency Symbol: ATLR

These settings should also provide enough information for use with various web3 libraries. If you want to connect directly to a geographically closer node, the current node list is:

For Node Operators

Node operators add capacity and resilience to the network. Trusted node operators are authorized by other trusted node operators to join the clique and seal transactions (mine) on the network.

If you want to join the network with your own node:

Install your preferred node software (the above nodes use geth).
Initialise the node with the 1971 network genesis file (below).
Attach to your running node and add an existing peer:

    geth [your flags] --exec 'admin.addPeer("enode://8652a49d42010100f75e2ec42022eb78b8f1fe5de183e5491472707981c10da0184a4cf39d3cc34b9114da5bb14da0024571f945b4f4ad7692988c2a673bb957@139.144.96.87:30303")' attach

If you want to mine:

Setup your node to mine ensuring it has access to your sealing key/wallet.
Go to the discord and ask to be proposed as a clique sealer and provide your mining nodes sealing key/wallet address.
You will need to attach to your node and approve the other nodes that are sent to you using:

    geth [your flags] --exec 'clique.propose("[approved node address]",true)' attach
